Following the success of the £1m refurbishment at Medlock Leisure Centre in late 2005, Pulse has once again been appointed as principal contractor to lead on the £7m refurbishment programme at The Copley Centre in Stalybridge; Ashton Pools in Ashton and Hyde Leisure Pool in Hyde. Over an 18 month period, Pulse in partnership with Tameside MBC and Tameside Sports Trust, is redesigning and refurbishing the three sites to produce facilities that will provide easy access to sport and leisure for the population of Tameside.
The first of the sites undergoing refurbishment is The Copley Centre. Read on to find out how Pulse has designed a layout that encompasses the correct mix of leisure activities, which include a new 85 station gym, 25 station youth gym, 140 sqm dance studio, thermal suite, licensed café bar and new reception, offices, meeting room and staff room at the upper level. A new extension at the lower level provides a separate school entrance, school change, school gym. New sports hall change and swimming village change are also located at the lower level. All this supports an existing six courts sports hall, traditional 25m pool, learner pool and six outdoor third generation five-a-side soccer pitches.
