Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council operates two fitness suites under the Lifestyles brand, one at Larkfield Leisure Centre and the other at Angel Centre in Tonbridge. Earlier this year, Martin Guyton, Leisure Contracts Manager, undertook a tender process for the replacement of the resistance equipment.
This process resulted in submissions from six global market providers. At this stage the Council undertook a detailed evaluation of each of the tenders which were assessed on a 70:30 ratio of quality:price. “At this stage I was looking at aesthetics, ease of customer use, maintenance arrangements, footprint, IFI compliance, ease of onsite maintenance and industry references,” comments Martin. “In my initial findings the Pulse equipment came out equal first with another provider. However, when I took into account the value for money, Pulse was clearly the best offer for this particular tender.”
The findings of the research were reported back to the members of the Council and Pulse was awarded the contract. “I genuinely believe that the latest Pulse resistance range (Evolve) competes on a global front with the very best equipment on offer and feel that our customers and our business will feel the mutual benefit of a business partnership with Pulse.”
Martin was also pleased with the professionalism that Pulse demonstrated throughout the tender process and is looking forward to Pulse’s support over the coming months to ensure the customer experience is second to none.
One area where the Council was rigorous in its exacting standards was that of IFI. The Council operates an extensive GP Referral Scheme and cater for many customers with access difficulties. In this area there was only one provider who stood out. “In my opinion, Pulse is a clear market leader in this specific and important area of design and operation,” comments Martin.
Commenting on the successful tender, Chris Johnson, Managing Director of Pulse said, “It is great to get feedback from a customer on why they choose Pulse over its competitors. We believe that IFI accredited equipment is more important than ever and continue to work in partnership with the IFI to develop new and innovative ways of making our equipment truly inclusive.”
